The Bay View Boat Club's

27th Annual Plastic Classic Regatta!

July 16th, 2011

RESULTS:

The 27th Annual Plastic Classic, July 16th, saw the weather foggy but warm.
Wind was 7 to 14 knots out of the Southwest. The armada of 56 sailboats was
made up of eight fleets - 5 PHRF divisions and Triton, Olson 25 and Ranger
23 classes. Each Class received medals for their efforts. This regatta was
also considered the Triton Fleet Championship so Ely Gilliam in Bolero got a
medal and his name once again on the Perpetual.

All boats sailed the same course and were scored in separate fleets and
overall. The fastest boat overall listings showed, Wings, a Columbia 5.5
owned by Michael Jackson, as the leader and the fastest Pre-1970 Boat. A
true "Plastic Classic" The fastest Post 1970 entry was Mark Simpson's Olson
25, Shadowfax.

In the Concours d'Elegance, Shantung, Mary Buckman's Choy Lee triumphed over
Robert Horton's Black Watch 37, Brigadoon" for the Prettiest Boat Overall
Award. These boats have traded this honor between themselves several times.
Both a beautifully maintained.

As always, the windward mark, the famous "Mark T", was staffed by several
lovely ladies who cheered the racers on while ruining their concentration.

After the race, the fleets anchored off the Bay View Boat Club and came
ashore for fine food, good music and the usual libations. After all, this is
the BVBC, the best party Club on the Bay.
